Welcome Back!
We hope that everyone enjoyed their nice winter break. It is always nice to take some time to recoup and relax. We are now on the downhill slope of the school year with so much to cover before the year is up.
Here is a look at our week ahead.
In Math, students will begin working on algebraic equations and expressions. The main difference between these two types of math sentences is that an equation has an EQUAL sign in it that we try to balance both sides of. An expression doesn't have an equal sign but requires simplifying to solve. We will have three lessons with assignments this week, as we get back into the swing of things.
We will begin our Energy and Motion Unit. The students will have a packet with all available information for the test, including a study guide. You may ask your child about this frequently. These hold all of the information and notes that we go over in class, and would be a great thing to go over periodically to ensure understanding before the test.
In Writing, students will be working on parts of a letter, and letter writing.
In Reading, students will be working on figuring out which point of view a story is told from. We focus on first and third person in fourth grade. To help your child, we will have charts that are glued into their Reader's Notebooks. These charts give key words that can guide your child to finding what perspective the story is told from.
2nd Quarter grade cards will be sent home today, Tuesday. Please sign and return those. We will give them back once we have received a signature.
